Huge Backlog of Student Athletes
Its supposed to be student athletes of the week, but for some reason there has been a log jam in getting the names to the press. We received nine student athletes of the week at one time; so, its like they’re athletes of the semester.
The student athlete of the week is sponsored by Pueblo of Pojoaqaue Boys & Girls Club. All winners receive a t-shirt and a free meal for two in the Buffalo Thunder Resort.
Apologies to the student-athletes. We’d like to give more biographical material, but we print what we receive.
Here are the honorees: Marcos Trujillo, 8th grade, basketball; Kevin Herrera, 8th grade, basket ball; Ryan Maestas, 7th grade, basketball; Cheyenne Cordova, freshman, basketball; Elizabeth Gomez, junior, basketball; Audrey Smith, junior, basketball; Juan Carlos Trujillo, freshman, basketball; Tom Nakotte, senior, basketball; Josh Ortiz, junior, basketball.
Besides being outstanding athletes, all of the above have maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA. Three of the honorees: Nakotte, Smith and Trujillo have 4.0 GPAs.
