John Ainsworth was hired as the Pojoaque High head football coach today. Ainsworth served as an assistant coach at Pojoaque High for the past two years.

There were 11 applicants for the job.  Matt Martinez, Pojoaque High athletic director, said Ainsworth was hired “because he knows the kids and the system and it will be an easy transition.”   Martinez added that “Ainsworth knows what it takes to take the program to the next level.”

This will be the first head coaching position for Ainsworth who played football at Clovis High. Ainsworth is the brother of former Elkettes’ volleyball coach Brian Ainsworth.

I Myself as a pojoaque football player feel that we need to get some supporters especially from administrators so we can a have good program like last year to keep it running… Regardless of who his kid is if he have no backing from ‘higher ups’ we will not have any coaches stay…

thanks for your comment. are you saying the football program doesn’t get backing from higher ups? could you explain, or give examples of where backing was lacking? why do you think coach rodriguez left so abrubtly?
