Stephen M. Younger, formerly in charge of nuclear weapons research and development at Los Alamos National Laboratory, in his recently released paperback, “The Bomb: A New History,” makes the statement, “given the right conditions and incentives, it is possible for a nation to give up its nuclear aspirations.”

Younger traces the evolution of weapons and how our nuclear policy evolved. He says that American policy has restrained nuclear proliferation for decades.
