Gabrielle Gonzales, Daniel Santistevan and Gregory Hamilton: Student Athletes of the Week
Top to bottom: Gabrielle Gonzales, Daniel Santistevan, Gregory Hamilton
Each week, Pojoaque Valley High School and Middle School coaches nominate student athletes of the week, a program sponsored by the Pueblo of Pojoaque Boys & Girls Club.
This weeks selections are Gabrielle Gonzales, Daniel Santistevan and Gregory Hamilton.
Gabrielle Gonzales is an 8th grade basketball player with a 3.29 grade point average. Her coach, Joe Estrada, said he nominated her because “Gabrielle was our leading scorer in our first game vs. West Las Vegas. She is also a leading rebounder, team captain and a great example for the younger players in the program. Gabrielle is also an outstanding student and a pleasure to be around.”
Daniel Santistevan, a junior cross country runner with a 3.43 gpa, was nominated by head cross country coach Allan Lockridge.
“Through the regular cross country season this year Daniel has stepped up as a very consistent front runner on the team and has been showing all the signs of becoming the team leader of the future,” Lockridge said. “His work ethic in training has moved up to the top level.”
The third student athlete of the week is Gregory Hamilton, a 7th grade football player with a 3.5 gpa, nominated by middle school football coach Greg Hamilton.
“Last week was our last middle school football game,” coach Hamilton said. “We had many outstanding players in both the 8th and 7th grades. This week, I chose Gregory as he is the only mid-school football player who was at every single practice and game. He is the only mid-school football player to never miss a single practice since June.”
Congratulations to this weeks student-athletes!
