Volleyball: Revenge Is Sweet

Last year, the Elkettes defeated the Las Vegas Robertson Lady Cardinals four times before losing to them in the semifinals of the Class AAA State Tournament.

The Elkettes had to live with that heartbreaking defeat that breathed fired into their collective soul.

Saturday night the two 3A powerhouses clashed in the championship game of the Tournament of Champions in Tony Roybal Memorial Gymnasium and the Elkettes dusted off their hurt, showed amazing heart and defeated Robertson 25-19, 21-25, 25-14, 25-17 to capture their third consecutive tournament title.

Pojoaque (8-1) and Robertson (6-2) meet again in Las Vegas on October 1 at 7 p.m.
